OUTREACH
Living in a diversified community allows TYS to continue it's ongoing outreach projects since it's original retail store in 1989. These currently include:
- • A collection station for Blue Star Mom packages. July garnered 3 huge baskets and the Tri-Valley moms sent out over 3,000 packages to service personnel.
- • Baby layette items (hats, sweaters, blankets) in conjunction with
St. Isadores Church in Danville for at least 3 pregnancy groups.
TYS donated 5 huge bags of items last year. - • TYS donated 13 or more lap robes for seniors.
- • Scarves and hats for teens through foster care and Friend's Outside.
- • Adult & children purchased sweaters in very good condition for women's shelters.
- • Chemo caps for various local hospitals.
A collection of yarns and patterns (knit and crochet) are available at TYS for your use on site – the table is always available. Come and sit a bit and work for a good cause in our Good Works Group.
HUGS program. TYS ongoing outreach program to our community. Simple knit neck down raglan bear sweater pattern for IKEA bears ($2). Takes only a few hours and one ounce of DK scraps. Bears will go to Dublin and Livermore police departments for their domestic violence calls. We also blanket stitch around polar fleece to make small blankets – see, you don’t have to knit. Cash and yarn donations greatly appreciated.
